NWS Holdings launches first standalone Sustainability Report

NWS Holdings Limited (“NWS Holdings” or the “Group”; Hong Kong stock code: 659) today publishes its first standalone Sustainability Report, detailing the progress and performance of the Group’s Hong Kong operations in the period from 1 July 2013 to 30 June 2014. As one of the first Hong Kong listed companies adopting the latest Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) G4 Sustainability Reporting Guidelines, the Group endeavours to increase information disclosure and transparency while meeting the expectations and needs of stakeholders and society as a whole. The full report and a summary version are available on a newly developed sustainability website sr.nws.com.hk and the Group’s corporate website www.nws.com.hk.

The yearly report presents the Group’s management approach, programme highlights and achievements in seven areas, namely corporate governance, economic, environment, labour practices, human rights, society and product responsibility. The entities covered represent the majority of the Group’s operations in Hong Kong, including the Corporate Office, Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (Management) Limited, Free Duty, Hip Hing Construction Group (mainly comprised of Hip Hing Construction Company Limited and Vibro (H.K.) Limited), New World First Bus Services Limited and Citybus Limited, and New World First Ferry Services Limited. An independent stakeholder engagement exercise has been conducted to collect views on material issues to be addressed in the report.

Tsang Yam Pui, Executive Director and Chairman of Corporate Social Responsibility Committee of NWS Holdings, remarked, “This report marks a new milestone in our effort to improve our business, corporate governance, social and environmental performance, and demonstrates our commitment to enhancing communication with our stakeholders. Sustainability is a journey of continuous learning and improvement, and the concerted efforts across the Group will keep creating long-term value for the community in which we live and work.”

Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency has verified that the report fulfils the Core option requirements of the GRI G4 Sustainability Reporting Guidelines. The report content also makes reference to the Environmental, Social and Governance Reporting Guide published by the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited.
