New World China Land Limited ("New World China Land"; Stock Code: 917.HK) held its annual National Outstanding Volunteer Award Presentation Ceremony on 5 December in Guangzhou Central Park-view to recognise the remarkable contribution of the staff volunteers from the New World Volunteer Team. The ceremony was officiated by Geng Shusen, Regional Director of Southern China, NWCL, and Marco Lam, Deputy General Manager of Corporate Communication of NWCL. 10 volunteers from Shenyang, Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu and Guangzhou won the honors of Annual Outstanding Volunteer Awards.
NWCL cares about the underprivileged in community and it established New World Volunteer Team, the first developer's corporate volunteer team in Mainland China, early in 2008. Currently, there are over 900 staff volunteers in the team and they have carried out a wide range of social services in different cities in China. In 2013, 93 volunteer services have been organised and the cumulative service hour has reached 4,148 hours.
After the award presentation ceremony, 25 volunteers from the New World Volunteer Team and Love‧New World Volunteers Club of the New World Development Company Limited, travelled to Yangwei Village of Conghua City, Guangdong Province, to participate ina three-day volunteer service fora farmhouse rebuild programme. In 2013, NWCL has donated RMB 672,000 to Habitat for Humanity China, an international non-profit organisation, for 40 farmhouses rebuild in Sichuan and Guangdong's poverty-hit areas.The Group has also supported this good cause by organising volunteer services and taking part in the construction work.
