Environmental protection has become a globally urgent
task. As a responsible corporate citizen, New World Group is actively concerned
about and participates in environmental protection. The Group has established the
Group Environmental Committee leading various group companies to actively formulate
environmental targets, drive the implementation of green measures and promote environmental
protection both internally and externally. The Group has also properly formulated
and effectively implemented its Group Environmental Policy so as to contribute to

New World Development Supports WWF-Hong Kong Corporate Membership Programme
New World Development values the importance of environmental protection. It has become a silver member of WWF-Hong Kong in this year to give support to the association’s conservative actions locally and globally, fulfilling its corporate social responsibility as always.

New World Group signed the "Conscientious Recycling Charter"
New World Group has signed the "Conscientious Recycling Charter" in April 2010, committing to supporting the proper recycling of e-waste, as the wrong and unconscionable processing of e-waste such as computers, electrical waste and electronic equipment may cause hazardous harm to the environment. The Group also sent representative to attend the kick off ceremony of "Conscientious Recycling Charter" on 26 September, 2010.
As at 31st December 2010, the Group has collected 950 pieces of used computers and have sent them to the proper recycling channels verified by the Environmental Protection Department. The Group will continue to support "Conscientious Recycling Charter" in 2011, committed to supporting the proper handling of e-waste.

New World Group Establishes Green New World Volunteers
Contributing to the Society
In September 2010, NWD established the "Green New World Volunteers" to fulfill its commitment to corporate social responsibility and support the sustainable development of the environment. Driven by the Group Environmental Committee of the Group, the volunteer team is responsible for planning, preparing and implementing various volunteering activities related to environmental protection for all the staff from the Group's subsidiaries and their families and friends. The scope of service covers greening, tree planting, cleanups, promotion of environmental protection and green living, and more.

Group companies of New World Group awarded Environmental Labels
In recognition of the Group’s efforts to waste reduction, various group companies of New World Group were awarded different environmental labels by Hong Kong Awards for Environmental Excellence (HKAEE) in 2010.
Group companies awarded the "Class of Excellence" Wastewi$e Label include: New World First Ferry, New World First Ferry (Macau) and Grand Hyatt Hong Kong.
Besides, New World First Bus, a subsidiary of NWS Holdings, was awarded the Energywi$e Label in HKAEE 2010 in recognition of its outstanding performance in energy conservation.

Grand Opening of K11 ECO HOME
K11 ECO HOME, the first large-scale exhibition project of K11 Eco Action, was unveiled on 16 July 2010 in Chongwen District, Beijing. The K11 ECO HOME is located in the community of Beijing New View Garden at northeast Ciqikou of the New World business district in Chongwen District, Beijing. From the early planning to the preservation of the original premise, K11 ECO HOME has showcased the exploration of the integration of residential architecture and nature as a demonstration of the K11 brand's three essential elements, namely "Art • People • Nature", in a multidimensional way, and shows its unfailing support to the nature-oriented philosophy on green architecture.

Earth Hour
On 27 March, more than 100 companies/ hotels/ buildings/ construction sites in Hong
Kong, Macau and Mainland China under New World Group or its management joined hundreds
of millions of people all over the world to support Earth Hour 2010 in either turning
off or dimming lights at 8:30 pm for one hour. These included the Group’s significant
buildings and premises such as Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, Avenue
of Stars and The Masterpiece in Hong Kong, and Shanghai Hong Kong New World Tower
in Mainland China.

Manning House won the Champion in the "Biggest Percentage Saver Award"
In January 2010, Manning House, property under New World Group and managed by UPML
under NWS, won the Champion in the Biggest Percentage Saver Award of the Property
Management category in the Fourth Power Smart Energy Saving Contest organized by
Friends of the Earth (HK). Each participating unit sought to achieve the most reduction
in electricity use in the 90 days. In comparison to 2008's electricity usage reduction,
if there is a reduction of at least 2%, the unit is eligible for a prize. Manning
House has achieved a huge reduction by replacing two previous air conditioning systems
which controlled different floors by just one system that still performs similarly.
In addition, as for lighting, it has installed a switch timer on every floor. The
lights are switched on automatically every day at 7am, and switched off automatically
at 9pm.

Group Environmental Committee
New World Group established the Group Environmental Committee responsible for formulating
green objectives and policies and up-to-date green strategies, driving to materialize
the environmental and social responsibilities across the Group, keeping the Group
abreast of the latest trend of corporate environmental measures and leading the
Group to attain the goal of a Green Conglomerate. The Green Office Committee and
Carbon Reduction Taskforce are both under the Group Environmental Committee.
New World Group is committed to:
- comply fully with applicable local and international laws and regulations related
to the environment
- give due consideration of environmental issues in the corporate decision-making
processes
- improve our environmental performance continuously and reduce the environmental
impact of the operations of our various business arms
- involve and communicate with business partners, suppliers, subcontractors and clients
regarding our environmental objectives
- actively promote environmental awareness and education amongst staff, their family
and the wider community
